SUSSEX TOUR 2008

Pilgrims lost the toss and Wisborough Green elected to bat. Pilgrims again fielded a side thankfully boosted with local players from both Ebernoe and Singleton. Frankie and Chris Hawks opened the bowling and we were very unlucky not to have made a break through in the first 10 overs when bowling changes were made. That wicket went to Sean Damen whose short ball was brilliantly caught by Singleton's Chris Perry and deep backward square with the score on 75. Wisborough though kept chipping away at the runs and we found it very hard to get any positive breakthrough and at one stage i was looking to chase a total of 270 but with some determination good Fielding we kept the score down to a respectable 225 with M.Hopkins 92 the main Wisborough run getter. Chris Hawks 3-39 and Nick Birt 3-45 the main wicket takers.

Another glorious tea from the opponents and it was our turn to bat. Ebernoe's pair of Richard Stemp and Binky Rose opened the batting for us and runs began to flow with both Richard and Binky hitting two huge sixes before Binky was bowled with the score on 31. Singleton Chris Perry joined Richard at the crease and the runs still kept coming as they pushed the score along to 76 before Richard was out, caught on 39. Ebernoes Dave Whittington continued with the run chase but unfortunate for him never really got any back up as we crumbled from 76-2 to 152 all out. Again many thanks to Richard,Binky,Chris and Dave from Ebernoe and Chris from Singleton for helping us out yet again.
